Out and About in Formentera Del Segura

Formentera Del Segura is a quite Spanish village nestled on the banks of the River Segura, surrounded by orange and lemon groves with irrigation canals fed from the River Segura, the main local industry is agriculture growing an abundance of all fruits and vegetables, all that can be found in the local markets and road side stalls.
Situated inland on the Costa Blanca it is within easy reach of Alicante airport 30mins and Murcia San Javier airport 45mins. With easy access to the AP-7 motorway and the main coastal road N-332. It has everything the Costa Blanca has to offer with a beach, a golf course, Water Park and go-carting all within 10mins drive.
The Letzia apartments are a short walk to the centre of the village of Formentera Del Segura, with a small village square and beautiful church it still has the feel of old Spain. A wide selection of tapas bars and restaurants,
Formentera Del Segura is a typical self contained Spanish village with everything you require, bakeries selling freshly made bread and cakes, a local butchers, fish mongers, a small super market as well as a chemist and small medical centre.

The River Segura winds its way past Formentera, forming its southern boundary with its pleasant views across the Vega Baja and onto the historical mill with working waterwheel. Take a stroll along the river bank footpath into another local village or into the surrounding orange and lemon groves.

The village pool as well as children’s pool is surround by a large grassed area for sun bathing it also has parasols and a shaded bar area for your comfort. A qualified life guard is always in attendance for your safety. Open from the end of June until the beginning of September.

Formentera Del Segura’s nearest coastal town is Guardamar Del Segura, a bustling typical Spanish town with miles of white sandy beaches, restaurants, and bars, Its is also the basin for the river Segura that empties through the small marina into the Mediterranean sea.
It also has a large natural park in the centre of the town which is popular with tourist and locals alike. In the summer months a large street market and fun fair winds its way down from the main street to the beach, offering bargains, local art and leather goods a reasonable prices.

Formentera Del Segura’s closest main town is Almoradi, which has a large, popular market on a Saturday and offers an abundance of tapas bars, restaurants, English bars and pubs. With a large local square dominated by the large church and surrounded by well manicured trees, this is a lovely spot to sit and people watch with a cold beer or glass of local wine served by one of the kiosk bars frequented by the friendly locals. Or how about visiting the local theatre for a show performed by local Spanish theatre groups or choirs.
More activities and adventures found nearby include horse riding, ten pin bowling. Daily excursions from Torrevieja marina to Tabac Island. Visit the Torrevieja and Santa Pola salt lakes where flamingos are regular visitors. There is also a Zoo between Santa Pola and Elche, with a sea lion show and a small train with a guide to show you around the park. Don’t forget you’re bathing costumes as there is also a small water park there for you to relax after your tour.
